After much drama and speculation, former national team captain Aminul Islam Bulbul has been elected as the new president of the Bangladesh Cricket Board (BCB). Following his approval as a councillor by the National Sports Council (NSC), Bulbul was officially elected president during the BCB board meeting held on Friday afternoon.
Veteran cricketer Imrul Kayes took to his verified Facebook page to congratulate the new BCB president. Sharing a photo with Aminul Islam, Imrul wrote:
"A few of us have always raised our voices to keep Bangladesh cricket free from dark influences. Despite hoping for positive change, many unfortunate events and weak management structures have repeatedly shattered those expectations. We have long waited for an escape from this shameful state of our cricket."
"We hope that our new BCB President Bulbul Bhai will fulfill his duties with honesty, courage, and vision. He is an experienced cricketer who exemplified dedication and professionalism throughout his playing career. Now, he bears an immense responsibility—not only to restore administrative order but also to rebuild the public’s lost trust in the national team. I offer my heartfelt congratulations and best wishes to him."
With Bulbul’s appointment, expectations are high for a turnaround in Bangladesh cricket, both on and off the field.
