Sharafuddaula Ibne Shahid Saikat, one of the 12 elite panel umpires of the ICC, has been named in the umpiring panel for the final two Tests of the prestigious Border-Gavaskar Trophy between Australia and India.
Saikat has previously officiated in the two-match Test series between South Africa and Sri Lanka. He served as an on-field umpire in the Durban Test and took on TV umpire duties in the Port Elizabeth Test.
Now, he is set to take part in one of the most important Test series in cricket. Saikat will be the TV umpire for the 4th Test at the Melbourne Cricket Ground, starting December 26.
For the 5th Test at the Sydney Cricket Ground, beginning January 3, 2025, he will officiate as an on-field umpire alongside Michael Gough.
This appointment further highlights Saikat's growing reputation in the international cricketing arena as a trusted and skilled umpire.
