West Indies leveled the three-match ODI series 1-1 with a thumping 197-run victory over Ireland, thanks to a career-best 170 from Keacy Carty, supported by vital half-centuries from Shai Hope and Justin Greaves. Rain affected the match, reducing the overs and setting Ireland a revised DLS target of 363, which proved far out of reach as Jayden Seales unleashed a fiery bowling spell.

Batting first, West Indies overcame a shaky start as Hope and Carty anchored the innings with a solid middle-order partnership. Hope scored a well-compiled 75, but it was Carty who stole the show, hammering a magnificent 170 that included a barrage of boundaries and sixes. His aggressive knock featured three consecutive sixes in an over from Barry McCarthy, which yielded 28 runs, and even saw a cameraman injured from one of his powerful strikes.

Greaves added the finishing touches with a rapid-fire half-century off just 22 balls, accelerating the innings dramatically. The team plundered 132 runs in the last 8 overs, contributing to a total of 372 in 50 overs—the second-highest ODI score in West Indies’ history.

In response, Ireland faltered from the outset. Jayden Seales bowled with pace and precision, dismantling the top order with early wickets, including Andy Balbirnie (bowled), and then removing Paul Stirling and Harry Tector with two brilliant deliveries. Despite Stirling reaching the milestone of 6,000 ODI runs, Ireland’s hopes quickly faded.

A 72-run partnership between Curtis Campher and Lorcan Tucker offered brief resistance, but wickets from Alzarri Joseph and Greaves soon dismantled the stand. Injuries meant Jordan Neill and Josh Little did not bat, effectively leaving Ireland with just nine players.

The commanding win not only ensured West Indies avoided a third consecutive ODI series defeat to Ireland, but also showcased their explosive potential with both bat and ball.
