Eight of Ten BCB Directors Bring No-Confidence Motion Against President Faruk Ahmed

In a dramatic development within the Bangladesh Cricket Board (BCB), eight out of ten current directors have brought a no-confidence motion against BCB President Faruk Ahmed. Only former cricketer Akram Khan abstained from joining the motion.

The directors who signed the motion include Nazmul Abedeen Fahim, Saiful Alam Swapon, Mahbubul Alam, Monjur Alam, Fahim Sinha, Iftikhar Rahman Mithu, Kazi Inam Ahmed, and Salauddin Chowdhury. The letter was addressed to Asif Mahmud Sajib Bhuiyan, the Adviser to the Ministry of Youth and Sports under the interim government.

In the letter, the directors stated:

"Due to Mr. Faruk Ahmed's autocratic and monopolistic leadership style, most directors are unable to perform their duties freely and effectively. The president has bypassed board members in making important decisions, acted irresponsibly, and exercised unilateral control. His actions have led to mismanagement and chaos within the BCB, tarnishing its reputation both domestically and internationally, and causing irreparable harm to Bangladesh cricket."

The letter further added:

"The BCB is a prestigious institution that has elevated the image of Bangladesh cricket globally. However, the current president’s autocracy, alleged corruption, abuse of power, and arrogance have left us with no choice. For the greater good of the country and to restore the BCB as a transparent and accountable institution, we hereby submit a motion of no confidence against Mr. Faruk Ahmed."

"As Mr. Faruk Ahmed was nominated by the National Sports Council (NSC) as a director and subsequently became president, we earnestly request that the NSC cancel his nomination. We, the undersigned directors, are committed to fully cooperating with your office to take the necessary legal steps."
