ICC Player of the Month Nominees for July 2025 Announced
The ICC has revealed the nominees for Player of the Month – July 2025, and it's a red-ball dominated shortlist. Exceptional performances in Test cricket have earned Shubman Gill, Wiaan Mulder, and Ben Stokes nominations for their standout contributions in the longest format of the game.
🇮🇳 Shubman Gill (India)
India’s newly appointed Test captain made a stunning debut as skipper during the four-match Test series in England. In three Tests, Gill amassed a staggering 567 runs at an average of 94.50.
His most iconic performance came in the third Test at Edgbaston, where he scored 269 and 161 in the two innings, totaling 430 runs—the second-highest match aggregate in Test history. He followed it up with a crucial 103 in the second innings at Old Trafford, helping India avoid defeat and secure a draw.
🇿🇦 Wiaan Mulder (South Africa)
The South African all-rounder and newly appointed captain produced a phenomenal all-round display in the two-match Test series against Zimbabwe.
Batting: 531 runs at an average of 265.50, including a record-breaking 367 in the second Test*—the highest individual Test score in South Africa’s history.
Bowling: 7 wickets at an average of 15.28.
Mulder’s match-winning contributions with both bat and ball earned him the Player of the Series award.
🏴 Ben Stokes (England)
England skipper Ben Stokes continued to live up to his reputation as a big-match performer. Against India, he delivered in all departments:
251 runs in three Tests at an average of 50.20
12 wickets at an average of 26.33
Stokes was named Player of the Match in back-to-back Tests at Lord’s and Manchester. In Manchester, he produced a defining all-round display with 5 wickets and a commanding 141 with the bat, propelling England to a massive first-innings total.
With three powerful contenders, July's ICC Player of the Month will be a tightly contested decision, each nominee making a strong case through historic and match-defining performances.
