Ahead of the 2025 IPL season, Kolkata Knight Riders have made a new addition to their coaching staff. The franchise has appointed former West Indies fast bowler Ottis Gibson as the assistant coach. Gibson has also served as the bowling coach for the Bangladesh national cricket team.
The 55-year-old Gibson has already established himself as an experienced coach. After finishing his four-year international career with the West Indies, he served as England's bowling coach for two terms. Additionally, he was the head coach of both West Indies (2010-14) and South Africa (2017-19), and he led the West Indies to their first-ever T20 World Cup title in 2012.
Gibson has also coached the Bangladesh national team and Yorkshire County Cricket Club and has worked as a consultant for several T20 teams.
Following Gautam Gambhir's appointment as the head coach of the Indian national team, Kolkata Knight Riders have made changes to their staff. The team now includes Head Coach Chandrakant Pandit, Mentor Dwayne Bravo, Bowling Coach Bharat Arun, and Spin Bowling Coach Carl Crowe.
Defending champions Kolkata Knight Riders will begin their campaign to defend the title on March 22, playing against Royal Challengers Bangalore at their home ground. Under the new captaincy of Ajinkya Rahane, the team will take to the field, with Venkatesh Iyer serving as the vice-captain.
