Bangladesh opener Mahmudul Hasan Joy has been injured. He sustained the injury while fielding in a practice match, raising concerns about his participation in the Test series against Pakistan. The opener might be sidelined for about three weeks due to a thigh injury.
Ahead of the two-match Test series against Pakistan, Bangladesh has faced a setback. Regular opener Mahmudul Hasan Joy has been ruled out due to a thigh injury. The BCB has yet to announce a replacement for Joy.
Mahmudul Hasan Joy scored 65 runs against Pakistan 'A' earlier this week. However, he will miss the Pakistan tour before the national team series begins. The Bangladesh team management hopes that Joy will need about three weeks to recover from the injury.
Not only will he miss the first Test in Rawalpindi, but he will also be unavailable for the second Test starting in Karachi on August 30. In Bangladesh's last five Test matches, Mahmudul Hasan Joy and Zakir Hasan have opened the innings. If Joy is unavailable, there is a possibility that Sadman Islam could take his place.
The 16-member Bangladesh squad completed their practice sessions at Gaddafi Stadium in Lahore from August 14 to 16. After finishing the three-day practice session, the entire team arrived in Islamabad on August 17.
Meanwhile, wicket-keeper batsman Mushfiqur Rahim has expressed optimism about recovering from his finger injury before the first Test. In a statement released by the Bangladesh Cricket Board, Mushfiq said, "I injured my finger before batting in the second innings, so I did not bat. I hope to recover very soon and, Insha Allah, play in the first Test."
