Michael Bracewell Replaces Injured Glenn Phillips in New Zealand Squad for Zimbabwe Test
New Zealand have called up Michael Bracewell as a replacement for the injured Glenn Phillips in their squad for the upcoming Test against Zimbabwe in Bulawayo. The match marks New Zealand’s return to Test cricket after a considerable gap.
Bracewell was not initially expected to take part in the Test series due to his commitment to The Hundred in England. However, he was already in Zimbabwe with the New Zealand T20 squad for the ongoing tri-nation series. With the schedule aligning, head coach Rob Walter had no hesitation in bringing him into the Test setup.
“Glenn’s injury opened up a spot in the Test side, and Michael is the best-suited replacement,” said Walter. “His experience and skillset will help maintain the balance of the team.”
Glenn Phillips sustained an injury during the Major League Cricket (MLC) final on July 13, while playing for Washington Freedom.
Bracewell is expected to return to England after the first Test to represent Southern Brave in The Hundred.
