MS Dhoni back to leadership duties
MS Dhoni back to leadership duties
Great news for Chennai Super Kings (CSK) fans—MS Dhoni is back as captain of the franchise in the ongoing Indian Premier League (IPL) 2025. With current skipper Ruturaj Gaikwad ruled out of the tournament due to a serious elbow injury, the captaincy mantle has once again been handed to the legendary Dhoni.
The change comes ahead of CSK’s high-voltage clash against Kolkata Knight Riders (KKR) tonight, where all eyes will be on Dhoni’s captaincy comeback. The five-time IPL-winning captain’s return to leadership is expected to rejuvenate a struggling CSK side that has managed just one win in five matches and currently sits 9th on the points table.
Confirming the development, CSK head coach Stephen Fleming said on Thursday, “Ruturaj Gaikwad has suffered a fracture in his left elbow. Unfortunately, he will miss the remainder of this IPL season. In his absence, our 'uncapped' player, MS Dhoni, will lead the side in the remaining matches.”
The return of the "Thala" to captaincy is expected to lift the spirits of CSK fans and players alike, as the franchise looks to bounce back strongly in the second half of the tournament.
