Delhi Capitals' captain Rishabh Pant has been fined ₹24 lakhs Indian Rupees. Earlier, he was fined ₹12 lakhs for the same offense in the previous match. The fine amount has doubled for repeating the same mistake.
Pant found himself in trouble for breaching the Code of Conduct regarding the slow over-rate in the IPL. If a team fails to complete their overs within the stipulated time, the captain bears the brunt of the fine.
In addition to Pant's ₹24 lakhs fine, the rest of the team members (the best eleven, including impact players) are fined ₹6 lakhs or 25% of the match fee, whichever is lesser.
It's worth mentioning that in Visakhapatnam, Delhi could only manage 166 runs in response to Kolkata's mammoth 272 runs (the 2nd highest in IPL history). Pant scored 55 runs in a losing effort as Delhi Capitals fell short by 106 runs in the match.
With just one win out of four matches, Delhi Capitals currently occupy the 9th position in the tournament standings.
