Rishabh Pant Fined ₹30 Lakh for Slow Over Rate in IPL Match Against RCB
Lucknow Super Giants captain Rishabh Pant has been fined for maintaining a slow over rate during their match against Royal Challengers Bengaluru. According to the IPL Code of Conduct, this is the team's third offense of the season, resulting in a fine of ₹30 lakh for the captain.
Pant wasn’t alone in facing punishment—the entire playing XI, including the impact player, were also fined. Each was penalized either ₹12 lakh or 50% of their match fee, whichever is lesser.
Despite the penalty, Pant had a standout performance in the match. He scored a brilliant century, smashing 118 runs off 61 balls, although his efforts couldn’t secure a win for Lucknow, who lost to RCB. After reaching his century, Pant celebrated with a cartwheel on the field.
Before this innings, Pant had scored only 151 runs in 13 matches this season. With this knock, he ended the tournament on a high, remaining not out on 118.
Lucknow Super Giants finished seventh on the points table, with 12 points from 14 matches, officially ending their IPL 2024 campaign.
