Tiger pacer Shoriful Islam has received some sudden good news. Although he was not initially picked from the draft for the Lanka Premier League (LPL), Shoriful has been recruited as a replacement player just two days after the tournament began. He will be playing for the Kandy Falcons.
Shoriful Islam is set to depart for Sri Lanka today, Wednesday, to participate in the Lanka Premier League. He will leave Dhaka in the afternoon on a flight, as confirmed by Shoriful himself to Cricket97.
In the Lanka Premier League, Shoriful’s team, Kandy Falcons, previously participated under the name B-Love Kandy. Despite the name change, the team retains most of its players from previous seasons. The team is led by Wanindu Hasaranga and includes notable players such as Andre Fletcher, Dinesh Chandimal, and Angelo Mathews.
Shoriful Islam’s World Cup experience was disappointing, as he did not play in any of the main stage matches. He missed the first match due to an injury sustained in a warm-up game against India, and Tanzim Sakib was selected in his place. Although Shoriful recovered, Tanzim Sakib’s impressive form kept Shoriful out of the playing eleven. Consequently, Shoriful returned home without participating in any World Cup matches.
Determined to overcome the disappointment of not playing in the World Cup, Shoriful aims to perform well in the Lanka Premier League.
