Wahab Riaz Faces Criticism for Dropping Catch
Former Pakistani cricketer and current chief selector Wahab Riaz is facing trolling and criticism for dropping a catch during the World Championship of Legends match between India and Pakistan.
On Saturday, Pakistan faced their arch-rival India. Due to poor fielding and missed catches in that match, Wahab Riaz has been the target of trolling on social media. The incident occurred in the last over of the match. Aamir Yamin was bowling, and batter Anurith Singh lofted the ball. Despite having ample time to position himself for the catch, fielder Wahab Riaz failed to secure it. Consequently, he is being criticized for not catching what seemed like an easy opportunity.
In November of the previous year, the Pakistan Cricket Board (PCB) appointed Wahab Riaz as the chief selector. He was responsible for selecting the squad for the recently concluded T20 World Cup, where Pakistan was eliminated from the group stage after losing to the United States and India. Prior to Wahab Riaz, the legendary Inzamam-ul-Haq held the position of chief selector for Pakistan.
Wahab Riaz is now facing widespread trolling from fans for his unsuccessful team selection and for dropping the catch against India.
On Saturday, Pakistan batted first and amassed a formidable total of 243 runs for 4 wickets. In response, India, led by Yuvraj Singh, scored 175 runs. Consequently, Pakistan secured a significant victory over their arch-rival by 68 runs.
