Dhaka-Aricha Highway Accident Leads to Suspension of Two DPL Matches
Due to an accident and ensuing traffic chaos on the Dhaka-Aricha Highway, two matches of the Dhaka Premier League (DPL) scheduled for today have been postponed. The matches between Sheikh Jamal Dhanmondi Club and Legends of Rupganj, as well as Prime Bank Cricket Club and Partex Sporting Club, were supposed to take place at the BKSP ground in Savar. However, due to the traffic gridlock caused by the accident on the Dhaka-Aricha Highway, players couldn't reach the BKSP ground. Therefore, it has been decided that these two matches will be held tomorrow.
In the early hours today, a fatal accident occurred near Jorapul area of the Dhaka-Aricha Highway. A tanker overturned and caught fire, spreading to the surrounding area. Other vehicles also caught fire from the flames of the tanker. Unfortunately, two people were reported dead in the incident, and several others were injured and are being treated.
Such incidents have caused severe traffic congestion on the highway. As a result, the two DPL matches planned for the Savar region had to be postponed as the teams couldn't reach the venue. These matches are now rescheduled to be held tomorrow (April 3rd). Additionally, no DPL matches were scheduled for today.
Despite the postponement of matches in Savar, the day's other match in Fatullah began at the scheduled time. Mohammedan Sporting Club and Abahani Limited faced off in a highly anticipated clash.
