Mustafizur Rahman bowled 4 overs against Kolkata Knight Riders (KKR) for Chennai Super Kings (CSK), conceding only 22 runs and taking 2 wickets. Mustafiz could have taken another wicket, but Mahendra Singh Dhoni dropped the catch of Andre Russell behind the wicket.
However, Ravindra Jadeja didn't drop the catches. In the last over, he took two catches off Mustafizur's bowling. The Fizz dismissed Shreyas Iyer and Mitchell Starc. With these 2 wickets, Mustafiz became the highest wicket-taker in the ongoing IPL (Indian Premier League) season, collecting 9 wickets. He returned to Bangladesh with the Purple Cap after taking 7 wickets in 3 matches. He couldn't play one match and lost the Cap. Yuzvendra Chahal rose to the top with 8 wickets.
Chennai Super Kings star Mustafizur Rahman took the Purple Cap again today, surpassing Chahal in IPL 2024. At the end of Kolkata's innings, Jadeja gave him the Cap.
Jadeja said to broadcaster about Mustafiz, "He (Mustafiz) was very effective in this wicket. He delivered some very good slower deliveries. I think he was exceptional."
In this IPL, Mustafiz is receiving praise from everyone, especially for his death bowling. He has bowled 48 deliveries from overs 16 to 20, taking 4 wickets while conceding 64 runs.
