After two consecutive losses, Chennai Super Kings (CSK) found their winning path again against Kolkata Knight Riders (KKR). They secured an easy victory by 7 wickets at the Chepauk stadium. Kolkata, after deciding to bat first, lost 9 wickets in the allotted 20 overs, managing to score 137 runs. In response, Chennai, while batting, lost 3 wickets in 17.4 overs to secure the win.
Chennai started their batting innings with a modest target in hand. Rachin Ravindra and captain Ruturaj Gaikwad began cautiously. However, Rachin's innings didn't flourish today as he returned after scoring 15 runs off Bhuvneshwar Kumar's delivery.
Ruturaj, on the other hand, remained firm throughout the match. He confidently wielded the bat after getting a hold of Chepauk's pitch. Daryl Mitchell supported him until the 13th over. However, Mitchell got out, bowled by Sunil Narine, after scoring 25 runs off 97 team runs.
Towards the end, Ruturaj took full responsibility for the match outcome. With 3 sixes and 1 four in his innings, Shivam Dube contributed 28 runs towards the victory.
Ruturaj remained unbeaten till the end, scoring 67 runs off 58 balls. He took the match result into his own hands. Spinner Ravindra Jadeja also played a significant role in today's match, taking 3 wickets with his bowling.
Kolkata's captain Shreyas Iyer held the fort till the last over. However, the other batter couldn't contribute much to the run tally. Losing wickets at regular intervals, the team managed to score only 137 runs, losing 9 wickets. Bangladeshi pacer Mustafizur Rahman took the last over, dismissing Iyer and Mitchell Starc. He bowled 4 overs, conceding 22 runs and taking 2 wickets.
Iyer returned scoring 34 runs off 32 balls. Kolkata stopped at 137 runs, losing 9 wickets.
