Experienced Mominul's single-handed fight
Today is the fourth day of the Sylhet Test. In the first hour of the morning session, Sri Lanka's success was limited to the wicket of nightwatchman Taijul Islam. However, Mehidy Hasan Miraz also lost his wicket thereafter. Nevertheless, Muminul Haque fought alone and led the team off the field for lunch break at midday.
At the end of the first session of the fourth day, Bangladesh lost seven wickets, scoring 129 runs. Experienced Muminul Haque is batting with 46 runs, while Shariful Islam is accompanying him with 3 runs. To win the Test, Bangladesh needs to score another 382 runs.
Taijul Islam, who top-scored with 47 runs in the first innings, was dismissed today after scoring just 6 runs from 6 balls. He fell victim to Kasun Rajitha's delivery, with the on-field umpire confirming his dismissal. Despite reviewing the decision, Taijul couldn't save his wicket.
Bangladesh faced a significant setback as they lost their sixth wicket for 51 runs, putting them in danger of a huge defeat. At that moment, Muminul Haque found a partner in Mehidy Hasan Miraz. Muminul, the experienced batsman, tried to build the innings, while Miraz supported him from the other end. Together, they added 66 runs before Miraz got out, caught brilliantly at second slip by Dhananjaya. Miraz scored 33 runs off 50 balls before departing.
Bangladesh's batting woes continued as they lost five wickets for just 37 runs. Among the five dismissed batsmen, three returned to the pavilion without scoring any runs, with Liton Das being dismissed for a golden duck. Before that, captain Shanto was caught behind off a delivery that narrowly missed the outside edge. These two wickets at the end of yesterday's evening session summed up Bangladesh's struggles with the bat.
