Discussions about Impact Subs in the IPL are ongoing. This rule has been in effect since last year, where each team gets the advantage of one player who can perform separately as a specialized batter or bowler. Recently, Rohit Sharma expressed his views on this rule in a podcast. Now, Mohammed Siraj has been added to that list.
The international match hasn't yet implemented this rule of Impact Players. The Indian Premier League introduced this rule primarily from the 2023 season to bring more freshness and excitement to the tournament. However, players and coaches are having various discussions about it. Many of them are not entirely happy with this rule.
Siraj recently stated, "It's important to stay calm. If you think too much, it will lead you towards negativity and frustration. So, I always try to be as positive as possible. I try to ignore all kinds of negative signals around me. Please remove this Impact Sub thing (laughs). There's no flat wicket here, nothing for the bowlers. It used to be slow sometimes, but now the batters are dominating everything."
Indian skipper Rohit had expressed his disinterest in the Impact Player rule a few days ago. Meanwhile, Delhi Capitals coach Ricky Ponting has also opened up about it. He says that for coaches, this rule seems like a nightmare. Due to such discussions among players, this rule might need to be reconsidered by the IPL governing council.
