A five-match T20 series between India and England is set to begin in Kolkata this Wednesday, and ahead of the series, the England and Wales Cricket Board (ECB) has appointed young batter Harry Brook as the new vice-captain of the team.
Brook, who has previously captained in The Hundred tournament, will not only serve as vice-captain for the India series but will also take on the same role during the 2025 ICC Champions Trophy for England.
Last year, due to England’s white-ball captain Jos Buttler recovering from an injury, Brook was given the responsibility of acting captain during the ODI series against Australia. Following the India series, England's red-ball coach Brendan McCullum will also begin his duties as the head coach for the white-ball format.
England will play five T20 matches and three Test matches against India. The first T20 will be held on January 22 at Eden Gardens in Kolkata. The next four T20 matches will take place in Chennai (January 25), Rajkot (January 28), Pune (January 31), and Mumbai (February 2).
