The Cumilla Warriors Cricket Club officially launched their jersey for the 2025 season in a vibrant unveiling ceremony held in East London. Since joining the National Cricket League of England in 2020, the club has steadily gained prominence, and this year they aim to make a stronger mark with the inclusion of notable Bangladeshi internationals.
The 2025 season will see Sabbir Rahman, who has played 125 international matches for Bangladesh, and former national opener Jahurul Islam don the Cumilla Warriors jersey. In previous seasons, veteran batter Imrul Kayes was a key player for the team.
The club is set to compete across three divisions this season, with three separate teams representing Cumilla Warriors. Their first match kicks off tomorrow.
Speaking at the event, Jahurul Islam expressed optimism:
“This time, we have three Cumilla Warriors teams participating across three leagues. We’re hopeful of clinching championships in all of them.”
The jersey launch was attended by several key figures from the club including Chairperson Tahmina Kabir, Captain Aminul Islam Sihan, Treasurer Mahab Alam, Public Relations Secretary Rafsan Zaman, and Player Manager Burhan Mahmud, along with players and supporters. Representatives from LB Group, the club’s platinum sponsor, were also present.
Club Chairperson Tahmina Kabir reflected on the club’s growth:
“This year’s story is unique for us. We've grown from a single team to three. We now have over 50 members, with both national and international players, as well as talented local cricketers joining our ranks.”
She added, “We are hopeful of achieving great results this year. Additionally, we’re investing in the next generation—creating training and playing opportunities for children. Strengthening our connection with the community and promoting sports is a key part of our mission.”
