Bangladesh U-19 Clinch Series with Dominant Win Over South Africa
Bangladesh U-19 team showcased their growing prowess on South African soil, sealing the three-match youth ODI series with a commanding 104-run victory in the second game, held in Benoni on Saturday. With this win, Azizul Hakim Tamim’s side secured the series 2–0 with one match to spare.
After losing the toss, Bangladesh were sent in to bat first. Despite a shaky start, a resilient middle-order effort helped the visitors post a competitive total. Skipper Azizul Hakim Tamim led from the front with a mature knock of 67 runs, while Jawad Abrar (57) and Rizan Hossain (52) made valuable contributions at crucial moments. Bangladesh finished on 265 for 6 in their allotted 50 overs.
Chasing 266, South Africa U-19 were rattled early by Bangladesh’s disciplined bowling attack. The hosts kept losing wickets at regular intervals and never managed to build a solid partnership. Swadhin Islam, Al Fahad, and Tamim each claimed two wickets, maintaining aggressive lines and lengths throughout the innings.
South Africa’s only notable resistance came from Jason Rolls, who scored 51 runs. However, the rest of the batting order faltered, and the team was bowled out for just 161 runs, handing Bangladesh a comprehensive 104-run win.
Having already secured the series, the young Tigers will now aim for a clean sweep in the third and final match of the tour.
