A New Era of Bangladesh Cricket Begins—The 'Litton Chapter' Starts Today
Bangladesh is set to begin a new chapter in international cricket as they take on the United Arab Emirates in a two-match T20I series. The first match will be played today (17 May) at the Sharjah Cricket Stadium, starting at 9:00 PM Bangladesh time. The game will be broadcast live on T-Sports and Nagorik TV.
This series marks the beginning of a new journey under Litton Das, who will lead the team as the permanent T20I captain for the first time. Litton had previously captained the side as an interim leader during the tour of the West Indies, where Bangladesh secured a 3-0 series sweep. Now, the wicketkeeper-batter officially takes the reins.
On paper, Bangladesh holds the upper hand in terms of strength and experience. The Tigers also lead the head-to-head record, having won all three previous encounters against the UAE.
Bangladesh enter the series in good T20 form, having won three consecutive matches in this format. Given their current momentum, the series does not appear overly challenging, but it is an important part of their preparations for the ICC T20 World Cup 2026.
