After stunning everyone by clinching the title in the inaugural edition of the Global Super League (GSL) without relying on big-name stars, defending champions Rangpur Riders are returning to the second edition with a full-strength squad, determined to repeat their success on a bigger scale.

The tournament kicks off on July 10 in Guyana, and Rangpur have assembled a balanced mix of seasoned internationals and promising local talents. Concerns over player availability have eased, with Soumya Sarkar, Mahidul Islam Ankon, Naim Sheikh, Saif Hassan, and Yasir Ali Rabbi all cleared to play.

However, Rishad Hossain and Sheikh Mehedi Hasan, two pivotal performers from the previous edition, are unavailable due to national duties with Bangladesh’s T20I squad.

Nurul Hasan Sohan returns as captain, having led Rangpur to the title last time. His leadership will again be crucial as the Riders aim to defend their crown in challenging conditions.

Rangpur's overseas lineup features an impressive array of international experience. Iftikhar Ahmed (Pakistan), Kyle Mayers (West Indies), Tabraiz Shamsi (South Africa), Ibrahim Zadran (Afghanistan), Akif Javed (Pakistan), Harmit Singh (Canada), and Khaja Nafe have all been named in the squad.

The 2025 GSL will feature five teams: Rangpur Riders, Guyana Amazon Warriors, Hobart Hurricanes, Dubai Capitals, and Central Stags. Rangpur are scheduled to play on July 13, 14, 16, and 17 against Guyana, Hobart, Dubai, and the Stags, respectively.

There will be no playoffs in this edition—only the top two teams from the group stage will advance directly to the final, making every match a virtual knockout for Rangpur.

There had been speculation about Shakib Al Hasan joining the squad, but his omission from the final roster has now ended the rumors.

With a well-rounded mix of star power, experience, and emerging talent, Rangpur Riders are confident as they look to retain the title and continue their dominance in the GSL.
