The Bangladesh Cricket Board (BCB) has announced a 16-member squad for the upcoming two-match Test series against Sri Lanka. This series marks the beginning of Bangladesh’s journey in the 2025–2027 ICC World Test Championship (WTC) cycle.
The first Test will begin on 17 June in Galle, while the second will commence on 25 June in Colombo. The Bangladesh team will depart for Sri Lanka on 13 June.
Najmul Hossain Shanto, who took over the Test captaincy in 2024, has been retained as captain for another year. All-rounder Mehidy Hasan Miraz will continue as the vice-captain, maintaining the leadership pair from the previous season.
Players like Zakir Hasan, Mahmudul Hasan Joy, Tanzim Hasan Sakib, and Tanvir Islam—who were part of the squad in the Test series against Zimbabwe—have been left out of the squad for the Sri Lanka tour.
Regular wicketkeeper-batter Litton Kumer Das has returned to the Test side. Fast bowler Ebadot Hossain Chowdhury has also been included in the Test squad after a long absence. Spinner Hasan Murad has also earned a spot in the team.
