Bangladesh Collapse After Tea, Facing Innings Defeat Threat
Bangladesh went to tea on Day 3 after losing Anamul Haque Bijoy early, but things only got worse after the break as they lost five more wickets in quick succession, plunging deeper into trouble and staring at the prospect of an innings defeat in Colombo.
By the time the sixth wicket fell in their second innings, Bangladesh’s score was only 115, still trailing by 96 runs. Liton Das was holding on with an unbeaten 13.
Earlier in the session, experienced batter Mushfiqur Rahim was dismissed for 26, while captain Najmul Hossain Shanto failed to convert his start and was out for 19.
Late in the day, Bangladesh lost Mehidy Hasan Miraz for 11, further weakening their resistance as Sri Lanka tightened their grip on the match.
