According to a statement from Bangladesh Cricket Board (BCB) Integrity Unit Independent Chair Alex Marshall, significant progress has been made in efforts to protect Bangladesh cricket from corruption.
The statement said four individuals have been charged with various breaches of the Anti-Corruption Code and have been provisionally suspended. The accused have been given 14 days to respond. They may either accept the charges and agreed sanctions or request a tribunal hearing.
In addition, one person has been declared an “Excluded Person,” meaning they are barred from all cricket-related activities worldwide. The decision was taken after investigators found irrefutable evidence of long-term corrupt activities, including match-fixing, extensive contact with foreign bookmakers and financial transactions linked to betting activities.
These are the first cases to reach a conclusion since the formation of the BCB Integrity Unit in November 2025. Several other investigations are currently ongoing, and further charges are expected in the coming weeks and months. Investigations linked to the Independent Inquiry Commission Report are also continuing.
Alex Marshall stated that the Integrity Unit is not only focusing on players, but also targeting the individuals behind betting-related fixing and other corrupt activities. The aim, he said, is to protect players by disrupting the networks of corrupters and fixers who target them. Those charged and excluded include a team owner, team managers, a senior coordinator and a player.
He further said the unit remains committed to ensuring that cricket fans in Bangladesh can enjoy honest and corruption-free cricket. Marshall also thanked the players and witnesses who came forward to report suspicious approaches and activities.
According to Marshall, confidence in the professionalism, confidentiality and relentless anti-corruption efforts of the BCB Integrity Unit is encouraging more people within the cricket community to report suspicious activities.
