Bangladesh is set to participate in the third edition of the World Championship of Legends (WCL), a tournament featuring cricket legends. With the addition of the new team “Bangladesh Champions,” the scope of the competition is expanding further.

With Bangladesh’s inclusion, the tournament will now feature teams from India, Pakistan, Australia, New Zealand, West Indies, South Africa, and Bangladesh.

Many legendary cricketers have already taken part in this tournament, including Yuvraj Singh, AB de Villiers, Brett Lee, Mohammad Hafeez, and Chris Gayle, among others. According to the organizers, Bangladesh’s inclusion in the 2026 edition will further enhance the quality of the competition and increase the number of high-profile international matches.

Promoted as the world’s second most-watched cricket league, WCL has already established its own identity by bringing together retired stars. The first two editions received massive viewership—over 325 million viewers for the first edition, rising to 423.1 million in the second, demonstrating its growing global popularity.

WCL founder and CEO Harshit Tomar stated that Bangladesh was included following consistent demand from fans over the past two years.

On behalf of Bangladesh Champions, JCUK Sports Limited director Yunus Hasan said that this decision is a milestone for fans both at home and abroad and will strengthen connections within the cricket community.

Team co-owner Ishtiaq Sadeq said, “It is a great honor for us to be part of WCL with Bangladesh Champions. We believe this participation will take Bangladesh cricket to new heights on the global stage. We hope to build a strong squad with all the legendary cricketers of the country.”

Former national team captains Mohammad Ashraful and Mahmudullah have already agreed to play for Bangladesh Champions. Efforts are also underway to include more big stars to strengthen the squad.

With Bangladesh’s inclusion, the upcoming WCL season will feature seven cricketing nations, making it the most diverse and competitive edition yet.
