Bangladesh Extend Lead to 179 Runs

The fourth day in Mirpur unfolded in two contrasting scenes — relentless rain on one side and a test of patience for Bangladesh’s batters on the other. Half-centuries from Mominul Haque and Najmul Hossain Shanto guided the hosts to 152 for 3 at stumps, stretching their lead over Pakistan to 179 runs.

Although Bangladesh began the day with a 34-run advantage, the start was far from comfortable. Like the first innings, both openers — Shadman Islam and Mahmudul Hasan Joy — failed to make an impact. Mominul once again reached the fifty-run mark, continuing his impressive run of form, though he could not convert the innings into a bigger score despite surviving multiple chances. After his dismissal, captain Shanto remained firm at the crease. With calm and controlled batting, the left-hander brought up his half-century and ended the day unbeaten on 58. Veteran batter Mushfiqur Rahim was alongside him on 16 not out, leaving Bangladesh well placed heading into the fifth day.
