In October, Bangladesh and Afghanistan will play a bilateral series in the United Arab Emirates, consisting of three ODIs and three T20Is. The six-match series will take place after the Asia Cup.
Following the conclusion of the series, Afghanistan will participate in a tri-nation tournament in Pakistan in November, featuring Afghanistan, Pakistan, and Sri Lanka. The Afghanistan Cricket Board confirmed the news today through a post on social media platform X.
Organized by the Pakistan Cricket Board, the tri-series will include seven matches. In the group stage, each team will play against the others twice, with the top two teams advancing to the final. The tournament is scheduled to begin on 17 November, with the final set for 29 November at Lahore’s Gaddafi Stadium.
Afghanistan Cricket Board CEO Naseeb Khan said:
“Playing regularly against top teams is a positive development for us. These matches will serve as an ideal preparation ahead of the upcoming T20 World Cup. I am hopeful Afghanistan will perform well, and our supporters will enjoy the series.”
Meanwhile, before the Asia Cup, Afghanistan, Pakistan, and hosts UAE are currently playing in a tri-series in the Emirates. Afghanistan will face Pakistan in the final today.
In the Asia Cup, Afghanistan will compete in Group B alongside Sri Lanka, Bangladesh, and Hong Kong. They will play their opening match against Hong Kong on 9 September.
