BCB Seeks Clarification Over NSC Gazette on BCB Election Investigation

The Bangladesh Cricket Board (BCB) has expressed concern over a gazette issued by the National Sports Council (NSC) regarding the investigation into the BCB election. The matter was confirmed in a press release issued by the board on Monday (16 March).

According to the statement, a recently published NSC Gazette No. 34.03.0000.000.004.55.0035.24.196 announced the formation of an inquiry committee to investigate the BCB election held in October 2025. However, the board emphasized that the current BCB administration is a duly elected body operating fully in accordance with its constitution. Since assuming office, the board has been carrying out its responsibilities in the best interests of Bangladesh cricket.

The BCB believes that the publication of this gazette may create uncertainty regarding the stability, independence, and continuity of the elected administration. As part of the global governance structure of international cricket, the BCB is a full member of the International Cricket Council (ICC). Under ICC regulations, any action that may be perceived as external interference in the affairs of an elected cricket board is treated with utmost seriousness and may trigger a review under the ICC’s governance and compliance framework.

The board also stated that the matter has been informally discussed with senior representatives of the ICC leadership. It was indicated that developments interpreted as interference in the affairs of a democratically elected cricket board could raise governance concerns within the international cricket framework.

Considering the potential international implications, the BCB said it wants to address the issue with due caution and transparency. Before initiating any formal communication with the ICC, the board believes it is appropriate to engage directly with the National Sports Council to seek clarification about the context, intent, and possible implications of the gazette.

The BCB added that it remains committed to constructive engagement with all relevant national authorities. At the same time, it emphasized that the governance autonomy of the elected cricket administration must be preserved in line with internationally recognized cricket governance standards.

Accordingly, the BCB has urged the National Sports Council to resolve the matter in a way that safeguards the stability, independence, and continued progress of Bangladesh cricket, while ensuring that the country’s standing in the international cricket community remains fully protected.
