BCB to Launch New T20 League in Bangladesh
The Bangladesh Cricket Board (BCB) is set to organise a new T20 tournament to further strengthen domestic cricket in the country. The league has been named the Sonar Bangla Pathway T20 Cricket League 2026.
Through this league, the BCB aims to provide competitive opportunities for players who are currently outside the franchise or club league systems.
BCB Vice President Faruque Ahmed has been appointed as the head of the tournament. Matches will be held in Bogura and Rajshahi, with the league scheduled to commence in the first week of January 2026.
The tournament is expected to feature six to eight teams. Player selection will be conducted by the National Selection Panel, with eligibility determined from the following categories:
Players listed in the BPL T20 2025–26 auction who were not picked by franchises.
Players who had signed for the eight teams that did not participate in the Dhaka First Division Cricket League.
The BCB will appoint the respective team managements to ensure professionalism and maintain consistent standards throughout the tournament. The Board will also manage all financial matters, including player payments.
Further details regarding team composition, match schedules, and other operational aspects of the Sonar Bangla Pathway T20 Cricket League 2026 will be announced soon.
