Delhi Capitals Announce Faf du Plessis as Vice-Captain for IPL 2025, Axar Patel to Lead the Team
Delhi Capitals have announced Faf du Plessis as their vice-captain for the 2025 Indian Premier League (IPL) season. Axar Patel will lead the team as the captain.
The 40-year-old du Plessis was released by Royal Challengers Bangalore after last year's IPL. He was then bought by Delhi Capitals for ₹2 crore during the mega auction last year. Du Plessis, who captained RCB for three seasons, has played 145 matches in the IPL, scoring 4571 runs at an average of 35.99 and a strike rate of 136.37.
This year, Delhi Capitals have completely revamped their team, including leadership changes. Rishabh Pant has been removed from the captaincy, and Axar Patel has been appointed as the new captain of the team.
In addition to the leadership changes, the coaching staff has also undergone significant restructuring. Hemang Badani will serve as the head coach, with Kevin Pietersen taking on the role of team advisor, alongside several other former players and experts being appointed to key roles.
Although Delhi Capitals have never won an IPL title, the team’s fresh leadership and strategic changes could propel them closer to fulfilling their IPL championship dream in the upcoming season.
