Bangladesh once again fell agonizingly short of victory. At the Birshreshtha Matiur Rahman Stadium in Chattogram, the Tigers lost the second T20I against West Indies by 14 runs. With 33 runs needed from the final three overs and six wickets in hand, the hosts were in a strong position — but a late collapse sealed their fate. The defeat also confirmed the series for West Indies with one match still to play.

Left-handed opener Tanzid Hasan Tamim led Bangladesh’s chase with a fighting 61 off 48 balls, but his dismissal towards the end triggered the collapse. After the match, a visibly disappointed Tanzid admitted that his failure to finish the game hurt the most.

He said, “Honestly, it doesn’t matter how well you play if the team doesn’t win. On this kind of wicket, set batters need to finish the game. The ball was skidding a bit and wasn’t coming onto the bat easily. It was tough for new batters to start hitting right away. I think if I had stayed till the end, we could’ve won the match.”

Tanzid further explained, “As I said, on this wicket, the set batter has to finish the game because new batters can’t just come in and start hitting. You saw how the wicket behaved — even they struggled and got out trying to attack. I feel my main responsibility was to stay till the end. If I had done that, we probably would’ve won comfortably.”

Reflecting on his own role, the young opener admitted, “I think that was the main reason — it was tough to go in and hit from ball one. I had a bigger responsibility there. I couldn’t fulfill my responsibility.”
