India Gears Up for Intense Battle, Announces T20 World Cup Squad
The T20 World Cup, jointly hosted by India and Sri Lanka, is set to take place on Indian soil next February. Even before preparations fully began, India’s squad has become the center of discussion, promising a storm in the upcoming tournament. On Saturday, the Board of Control for Cricket in India (BCCI) announced a 15-member squad, featuring a few surprising inclusions and exclusions.
The biggest surprise in the squad announcement is the absence of Shubman Gill. Despite ongoing speculation about his place, he did not make it to the World Cup squad this time. In his place, Rinku Singh and Ishan Kishan have been included. India will be led by Suryakumar Yadav, with all-rounder Axar Patel serving as vice-captain for the tournament held on home soil.
This squad will also represent India in the upcoming five-match T20 series against New Zealand, which is set to begin on January 21.
India’s T20 World Cup Squad:Suryakumar Yadav (captain), Axar Patel (vice-captain), Abhishek Sharma, Sanju Samson, Tilak Varma, Hardik Pandya, Shivam Dube, Rinku Singh, Jasprit Bumrah, Harshit Rana, Arshdeep Singh, Kuldeep Yadav, Varun Chakravarthy, Washington Sundar, and Ishan Kishan.
