India completed a commanding 2–0 series whitewash against the West Indies after securing a convincing 7-wicket victory in the second Test. This marks Shubman Gill’s first Test series win as captain, following the drawn series in England earlier this year.

Chasing a modest 120-run target on Day 5, India made a confident start through openers KL Rahul and Sai Sudharsan. The pair added a steady stand before Sudharsan fell to Roston Chase for 39. Captain Gill then joined Rahul, striking a six and a boundary to accelerate the chase, but departed for 13 runs when India needed only 13 more to win.

Rahul ensured there were no further hiccups, remaining unbeaten on 58 to guide India home. Wicketkeeper Dhruv Jurel provided solid support as India sealed the win comfortably.

Earlier, India declared their first innings at a mammoth 518, powered by Yashasvi Jaiswal’s fluent 175 and captain Gill’s unbeaten 129. Sai Sudharsan (87), Nitish Kumar Reddy (43), and Dhruv Jurel (44) also made valuable contributions.

In response, West Indies were bundled out for 248 in their first innings. The Indian spinners dominated, with Kuldeep Yadav taking 5 for 82 and Ravindra Jadeja claiming 3 for 46.

Forced to follow on, West Indies put up a much-improved fight in their second innings. Openers John Campbell (115) and Shai Hope (103) hit brilliant centuries, while a resilient 79-run last-wicket stand between Justin Greaves and Jayden Seales lifted the total to 390 — setting India a target of just over 100 runs.

India comfortably chased down the target on the final day, sealing a 7-wicket win and wrapping up the series 2–0. Despite the loss, West Indies earned praise for their spirited resistance and fight in the second Test.

For India, the clean sweep under Shubman Gill’s leadership marks a perfect end to the Test series — and a promising beginning for their young captain.
