Bangladesh’s batting woes continued as they suffered a series defeat against the West Indies, losing the second consecutive T20I in Chattogram. Despite having a batting-friendly surface, the Tigers’ batters once again failed to deliver, leaving the bowlers’ strong efforts unrewarded.
Speaking at the post-match presentation, Bangladesh captain Litton Das expressed his disappointment and apologized to the bowlers.
“If you see the last two or three series, our bowlers have been doing really well. I’m really sorry to all the bowlers because they did their job perfectly, but we still couldn’t win,” Litton said.
At one stage, the West Indies batters were cruising and looked set to post 200, but brilliant spells from Nasum Ahmed, Rishad Hossain, and Mustafizur Rahman restricted them to 149.
In reply, Bangladesh failed to capitalize despite several batters getting starts. Only Tanzid Tamim stood out with a fine 61, while Litton himself was dismissed for 23.
Reflecting on his own performance, Litton admitted,
“150 isn’t a huge target, especially in Chattogram. But we kept getting out after getting set. I should’ve batted till at least the 12th or 13th over. I need to improve myself — if I stayed longer, the match could’ve been over earlier.”
The West Indies fielders dropped several catches during Bangladesh’s innings — giving chances to Saif, Litton, Tanzid, and Shamim — yet the hosts failed to take advantage.
“They bowled really well today, but their fielding wasn’t as sharp as in the first match. They took some stunning catches earlier, but missed a few today. That was an opportunity for us, but we couldn’t chase it down,” Litton concluded.
