PSL Draft to Find Replacements for Liton and Nahid
Despite being drafted into teams for the Pakistan Super League (PSL), Liton Das and Nahid Rana are facing uncertainty regarding their participation. The Bangladesh Cricket Board (BCB) has not yet issued a no-objection certificate (NOC) for them to play the full tournament, leading PSL authorities to seek replacements for some of the matches.
In a statement on Sunday, the Pakistan Cricket Board (PCB) announced that, through an online players' draft, PSL teams would be selecting replacement players for six cricketers, including Bangladesh's Liton Das and Nahid Rana, on Monday.
Liton was picked up by Karachi Kings, Nahid was selected by Peshawar Zalmi, and Rishad Hossain was drafted by Lahore Qalandars. The PSL is set to begin on April 11, which coincides with Bangladesh's Test series against Zimbabwe.
Although the cricketers have applied for NOCs to participate in PSL, the BCB has not officially provided clarity on their NOCs due to the upcoming Test series. Since Liton and Nahid are considered for the Zimbabwe Test series, they may not receive the NOC for the entire PSL season. On the other hand, Rishad, who is yet to make his Test debut, faces no issues playing in PSL. According to BCB sources, Liton and Nahid must play at least one match in the Zimbabwe series before they can head to the PSL.
The online players' draft will also see replacements for South Africa's Van der Dussen and New Zealand's Kane Williamson and Mark Chapman for a few matches. Additionally, a full-season replacement player will be selected for Corbin Bosch, who has been given an opportunity to play in the IPL
