Shanto Responds to Williams’ Dig Over Nahid Rana’s Pace
After Zimbabwean cricketer Sean Williams made a cheeky remark questioning Nahid Rana’s pace, Bangladesh captain Najmul Hossain Shanto has come up with a strong response ahead of the Sylhet Test.
Williams had said in the previous day’s press conference that they have bowling machines that bowl faster than humans — an apparent jibe at Nahid Rana. In reply, Shanto hit back, saying:
“You’ll see for yourself how fast Nahid Rana really bowls when he takes the ball tomorrow and the opposition is batting. That’s when you’ll realize just how extraordinary he is.”
Speaking further about the young pacer, Shanto added:
“I’ve known him for quite a while, since our days in the Rajshahi Division. He’s been clearly instructed to bowl consistently over 140 km/h. If he gets a chance to play, the goal is for him to deliver at that pace.”
The Bangladesh skipper also expressed satisfaction with the team’s preparations in Sylhet:
“Our preparation has been very good. In terms of facilities, everything was on point. We were able to practice on the type of wickets we wanted. Credit to the ground staff here — I hope we’ll get a similar pitch during the match.”
