T20 World Cup 10th Edition: Bangladesh in a Strong C Group
Bangladesh will kick off their campaign in the 10th edition of the T20 World Cup on February 7. This year’s tournament will be held in India and Sri Lanka, with Bangladesh confirmed in the ‘C’ group. On Tuesday (November 25), the International Cricket Council (ICC) unveiled the full schedule of the tournament in Mumbai. According to the schedule, the World Cup final will take place on March 8, while the tournament’s most high-profile match will be held in Colombo on February 15.
A total of 20 teams will participate in this edition of the World Cup, divided into four groups by the ICC. Bangladesh is placed in ‘C’ group alongside two former T20 World Cup champions—England and West Indies—along with ICC associate members Nepal and Italy. The group stage will therefore serve as a tough testing ground for the team led by Liton Das. The top two teams from each group will advance to the quarter-finals.
Group List:
Group A: India, Pakistan, USA, Netherlands, Namibia
Group B: Sri Lanka, Australia, Ireland, Zimbabwe, Oman
Group C: England, West Indies, Bangladesh, Nepal, Italy
Group D: New Zealand, South Africa, Afghanistan, Canada, United Arab Emirates
Bangladesh’s T20 World Cup Match Schedule:
February 7: Bangladesh vs West Indies, Kolkata
February 9: Bangladesh vs Italy, Kolkata
February 14: Bangladesh vs England, Kolkata
February 17: Bangladesh vs Nepal, Mumbai
Each match presents a unique challenge for Bangladesh. Besides facing strong opponents, the team under Liton Das will also need to tackle the unpredictable strengths of newer teams in the tournament.
