Tarique Rahman Stands by Shaheen Alam, Provides Financial Support
Tarique Rahman, the acting chairman of the BNP, has extended his support to Shaheen Alam, the 2020 Under-19 World Cup-winning cricketer. Shaheen, who has been out of the field for a long time due to injuries and family financial difficulties, received financial assistance on Saturday morning in Mirpur, Dhaka.
The aid was handed over at the residence of Aminul Haque, BNP’s central sports secretary and former captain of the national football team. Over the past few years, Shaheen Alam from Kurigram has been struggling with poverty due to injuries and family hardships. With opportunities limited to just three matches in the Dhaka Premier League (DPL) and no team in the ongoing first-division league, his source of income had almost completely dried up.
Speaking at the event, Aminul Haque said, “A World Cup-winning cricketer is a national asset. We cannot afford to lose a talented pacer like Shaheen Alam due to hardship. Standing by him in this difficult time is our moral responsibility. I hope this small initiative by Acting Chairman Tarique Rahman will inspire Shaheen to return to the field once again.”
Receiving the assistance, Shaheen Alam expressed his gratitude to Tarique Rahman and reaffirmed his determination to make a comeback in cricket.
