Weather Disrupts DPL Matches; Play Continues at Mirpur Stadium
Today, the Dhaka Premier League (DPL) had three scheduled matches, but only one match was able to take place due to weather disruptions. While one of the grounds at BKSP was unplayable, players spent the morning and afternoon engaging in discussions and casual chats, as light showers and cloudy skies led to the cancellation of two matches.
The Legends of Rupganj vs. Gulshan Cricket Club and Rupganj Tigers vs. Brothers Union matches were both abandoned due to the ongoing drizzle and overcast conditions. Despite efforts to cover the pitch, the wet outfield made it impossible to prepare the field in time for a toss. By 1:30 PM, match officials were left with no choice but to declare both games as abandoned, with no play taking place on the field.
Originally scheduled to start at 9 AM, the matches were declared abandoned after several attempts to ready the field proved unsuccessful.
Meanwhile, at the Sher-e-Bangla National Cricket Stadium in Mirpur, the match between Agrani Bank Cricket Club and Partex Sporting Club was underway. Agrani Bank, after losing the toss, batted first and were all-out for 218 runs in 50 overs. In response, Partex Sporting Club, chasing the target, found themselves struggling at 57 for 3 after 18 overs. To win, Partex now needs to score 162 runs in the remaining 32 overs.
