Saleema Imtiaz Becomes the First Pakistani Woman Umpire on the ICC Panel

Saleema Imtiaz has become the first Pakistani woman umpire to be included in the ICC panel. The Pakistan Cricket Board (PCB) announced this on Sunday. Saleema Imtiaz is the mother of Pakistani women cricketer Kainat Imtiaz.

By being included in the ICC’s International Umpire Development Panel, Saleema Imtiaz has qualified to officiate in women’s bilateral series and ICC events.

Saleema is thrilled to be a part of Pakistan’s history. She sees this achievement not just as her own victory but as a victory for every woman who aspires to become an umpire. Saleema said, "This is not only my victory but also a victory for every woman who wants to become an umpire. I hope this achievement inspires countless women to pursue sports."

Saleema Imtiaz’s journey has been challenging. She believes her success is a result of hard work and personal sacrifices. She said, "My journey has involved a lot of hard work and personal sacrifices. But now, standing at the start of a new chapter, I feel that I am deserving of this."

So far, Saleema Imtiaz has officiated in 16 matches and served as a TV umpire in 6 matches. Additionally, she officiated in the 2022 Women’s Asia Cup match between India and Sri Lanka in Sylhet.
