After Shakib Al Hasan, Taijul Islam has become the second Bangladeshi bowler to reach the milestone of 200 Test wickets. While Shakib achieved this feat in his 54th Test, Taijul reached the mark in just 48 Tests. Following the day's play, Taijul shared his feelings in a press conference, stating that while reaching 200 Test wickets is a source of happiness for him, it is not a matter of pride.
Taijul accomplished this milestone at Mirpur, the home of cricket, expressing his sentiments about the achievement. "This is definitely a pleasing moment," he said, but emphasized that it isn't a point of pride for him. "It is possible only because Allah has given me this opportunity."
He reflected, "The feeling is certainly good. There are many bowlers in the world with 200, 300, or even 400 wickets. In Bangladesh, we haven’t played Test cricket for long. Yet, among the few who have reached this milestone, I am one. It's not a matter of pride; it's by the grace of Allah that I have achieved this."
When asked if he still plans to finish his career with 300 or 400 wickets, Taijul noted, "First, I need to see how many Tests there will be in the next five years. Then I can calculate and give an answer. Right now, it's hard to say. If there are only 10 Tests, it will indeed be challenging!"
