On Dubai soil once again, Shakib Al Hasan played a crucial role in his team’s winning march with his disciplined bowling. Although he did not receive the Player of the Match award, the Bangladeshi left-arm spinner effectively dictated the tempo of the game, paving the way for a comprehensive victory for MI Emirates.
In the International League T20 at the Zayed Cricket Stadium in Abu Dhabi, MI Emirates won the toss against Dubai Capitals and opted to bowl first. Shakib delivered a tidy spell, conceding just 11 runs and claiming one wicket in his four overs. His control stood out—of the 24 balls he bowled, 15 were dot balls, denying the opposition batters any scoring opportunities.
Batting first, Dubai Capitals managed only 122 runs for the loss of eight wickets in their allotted 20 overs. Chasing the modest target, MI Emirates stayed in control from the outset and sealed an emphatic eight-wicket victory with 20 balls to spare. With this win, MI Emirates strengthened their position on the points table, moving to 14 points from 10 matches.
Earlier in the tournament, Shakib had earned the Player of the Match award in MI Emirates’ eighth game against Desert Vipers, producing an all-round performance that included an unbeaten 17 runs and two wickets conceded for just 14 runs.
