Bangladesh Lose Plate Final, Finish Sixth in Tournament
Bangladesh lost to Hong Kong by 1 wicket in the Plate Final of the Hong Kong Sixes Tournament, ending the tournament in sixth place.
After losing the toss and batting first, Bangladesh got off to a shaky start as Habibur Rahman Sohan was dismissed cheaply. Jisan Alam then took the innings forward with a rapid 27 off 7 balls, and captain Akbar Ali scored a challenging 51 off 13 balls, putting Bangladesh on a competitive track. In the final overs, Abu Haidar Rony added 28 off 8 balls and Tofael Ahmed contributed 10 off 5 balls, helping Bangladesh reach 120 for 5 in their allotted overs.
Chasing the target, Hong Kong lost 2 wickets for just 3 runs due to Abu Haidar’s early bowling attack. Ejaz Khan and Nizakat Khan stabilized the innings with a 70-run partnership off 20 balls for the third wicket. Abu Haidar struck again, taking 2 more wickets.
Hong Kong required 30 runs off the final over to win. Akbar Ali came on to bowl, but Ejaz Khan sealed the victory for Hong Kong by hitting a six on the last ball. He remained unbeaten on 85 runs off 21 balls. Abu Haidar finished with 4 wickets for Bangladesh.
