Ravi Rampaul Replaces Franklin as Bowling Coach; Kevin O’Brien Joins for Ireland Series
Cricket West Indies has announced changes to its coaching staff ahead of the six-match ODI tour of Ireland and England. Former West Indies pacer Ravi Rampaul has replaced New Zealand’s James Franklin as the bowling coach, while Irish all-rounder Kevin O’Brien will join the support staff for the Ireland leg of the series.
Rampaul, who represented West Indies in 18 Tests, 92 ODIs, and 27 T20Is, claiming a total of 197 international wickets, will be stepping into a full-time coaching role. His experience and familiarity with regional cricket are expected to be valuable assets for the team in European conditions.
In addition, Kevin O’Brien—a celebrated figure in Irish cricket known for his explosive batting and all-round skills—has been brought into the coaching setup specifically for the Ireland series, indicating West Indies' intent to prepare meticulously for the conditions.
The 15-man squad remains largely unchanged from the one that swept Bangladesh 3-0 in their last ODI series. Wicketkeeper-batsman Amir Jangoo, who scored a century on debut against Bangladesh, retains his place. Jewel Andrew, who was not part of that series, has been called up. Star batter Shimron Hetmyer has not been included due to ongoing IPL commitments with Rajasthan Royals.
