Torrent Group set to buy majority stake in Gujarat Titans
Ahead of the 2025 IPL season, there are major changes coming to the ownership of Gujarat Titans. The majority of the franchise will be sold to Torrent Group, which means the franchise will be jointly owned.
According to a report from Indian cricket-based website ESPN Cricinfo, Ahmedabad-based Torrent Group is set to acquire 67% of Gujarat Titans' shares. However, the specific price for the share transaction has not been disclosed.
It is almost certain that the formalities for the sale have already begun, and the ownership transfer is expected to be finalized before the start of IPL 2025.
Currently, Gujarat Titans are owned by CVC Capitals, who had purchased the franchise for ₹5625 crore in 2021. Interestingly, Torrent Group had also participated in the bidding for new IPL franchises in 2021, but lost out to Gujarat and Lucknow in the process. Now, Torrent Group is set to purchase the Gujarat Titans shares from CVC Capitals.
Gujarat Titans made a huge impact in their IPL debut in 2022 by winning the championship. They also reached the final in the following IPL. However, the 2024 season did not go as planned, with Gujarat Titans finishing in 8th place on the points table.
