Ashwin takes a dig at Pakistan, draws a comparison with Bangladesh
Former India all-rounder Ravichandran Ashwin commented on Pakistan’s poor performance in the high-voltage Asia Cup clash. After India’s one-sided 7-wicket win over Pakistan in Dubai on 14 September, Ashwin said on his YouTube channel, “Next time, the organizers should schedule three matches between India and Sri Lanka. I think those games will be more competitive.”
Ashwin expressed disappointment over the current Pakistan team, saying, “I feel really bad for Pakistan. Most of their players lack experience in global leagues. I won’t go into politics, but except for Sameer Ayub, I don’t see anyone capable. In terms of practical, technical, and strategic aspects, India is on a different level, so comparing the two sides is unfair.”
Highlighting India’s strength, he added, “This is India’s strongest T20 team. Honestly, there’s no comparison with the other side.”
The real jab, however, came with Bangladesh. Pointing out Pakistan’s failure to chase 127 after Bangladesh had scored 139 against Sri Lanka, Ashwin said, “If Pakistan had scored 75 for 1 after 10 overs, they could have reached 150, 160, or even 165. Look at the Bangladesh-Sri Lanka match — they managed 140 and came back with the Jaker-Shamim partnership. Pakistan played very poorly.”
