Shakib Al Hasan's Bowling Ban Remains in Effect
Shakib Al Hasan's bowling ban, imposed due to a flawed bowling action, remains in effect as his testing results have been negative on two occasions. This information was confirmed through a press release by the Bangladesh Cricket Board (BCB).
In the press release, the BCB stated, “Bangladesh national team all-rounder Shakib Al Hasan is under a bowling ban in competitions governed by the England and Wales Cricket Board (ECB).
Last month, the decision was upheld based on an independent reassessment conducted at the Sri Ramachandra Centre for Sports Science in Chennai, India. Consequently, the initial decision regarding the bowling ban in international cricket, made after an independent assessment at Loughborough University’s testing center in the UK, also remains valid.
To lift the bowling ban, a successful reassessment is required. Although Shakib is currently unable to bowl, he can continue playing domestic and international cricket as a batter.
The Bangladesh Cricket Board (BCB) has decided not to comment further on the matter at this time.”
Bangladesh team’s chief selector Gazi Ashraf Hossain Lipu previously stated that they were waiting for Shakib’s test results to finalize the squad for the Champions Trophy. Now that the results are out, it is almost certain that Shakib will not be part of the Champions Trophy squad.
