Star-Studded Australian Squad Set to Tour Bangladesh Under Marsh
Australia have announced a star-studded squad for their upcoming tour of Bangladesh in June. The visitors will play a three-match ODI series followed by an equal number of T20Is. Cricket Australia revealed the squads on Monday, combining experienced campaigners with several promising young players.
Mitchell Marsh will captain the side in both formats. The squad includes notable names such as Travis Head, Josh Inglis, Tim David, Marnus Labuschagne and Cameron Green. Cooper Connolly, Aaron Hardie and Green have been picked as all-rounders, while Matt Renshaw, Josh Philippe and Inglis strengthen the batting department.
Australia’s pace attack features Nathan Ellis, Spencer Johnson, Riley Meredith and Xavier Bartlett. Adam Zampa and Matthew Kuhnemann will lead the spin bowling unit.
Joel Davies has earned his maiden national call-up in the absence of Glenn Maxwell. Meanwhile, Steve Smith, Matt Short and Marcus Stoinis have been left out of the squad as they are set to participate in Major League Cricket. All-rounder Liam Scott has also received an opportunity in the squad.
ODI captain Pat Cummins, along with Josh Hazlewood and Mitchell Starc, has not been included in either squad. The selectors decided to rest the pace trio following their return from injury, keeping the busy red-ball schedule in mind.
Before the T20I series, Bangladesh and Australia will face off in a three-match ODI series at the Sher-e-Bangla National Cricket Stadium in Mirpur on June 9, 11 and 14.
